Why I took a break from writing and what I’ve been up to in the meantime [A personal update]

In the middle of the pandemic lockdown, I had my hands full with my two young kids. So, I stopped writing on the internet. At first, it was only a few weeks since I published anything. Then, the weeks became months. Then, I surrendered and I stopped counting.

Today, I’d like to tell you what I’ve been up to during this time away.

First, I spent a lot more time with my kids, a time I will forever cherish in my heart. Kids grow up fast. Time advances swiftly around them. One moment you’re playing hide and seek with them, kissing their soft cheeks and being the most important being in their universe, and the next, off they go, having their own life experiences, learning their own lessons and going through their own journey of growth. When the soft years I have now are gone, they’ll be young adults. Even though we will still be in each other’s lives, we’ll have less time together then. So, I want to cherish this time I have with them now to the best of my ability.

Second, I finally moved out of NYC, a dream I’d dreamt for many years! We packed our NYC apartment and moved to a beautiful, small town in Connecticut, about two hours from NYC. As I’m writing this, I’m surrounded by singing birds, tall green trees and beds of luscious ferns. Little chipmunks dance purposefully on the rocks outside my house and a lost fox wanders around aimlessly every now and then. For the past few years, I had felt a strong pull to move to this area, not knowing why or how I can even make it happen. Now, I am so much happier here than I was in noisy NYC. I didn’t know what I was missing until I discovered it.

I also finished my first book, which will be published shortly - a wild and long ride! I will one day write a more in depth post about how I wrote it and how I published it, but for now I will just say that this book has taught me many valuable lessons. It taught me how to become a better writer and it taught me that I want to become a better writer. I’m grateful I listened to the nudge I felt to begin writing it. I look forward to write more books in the future, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading them.

One other thing I did during this time away was to join a meditation group. A few dozens of us from all over the world got together every day and meditated together. We visualized worldwide peace, abundance and love. We prayed together in the modern way. We did this for about six months, and went our separate ways afterwards. This meditation practice helped me sharpen my spiritual skills and feel a stronger sense of well-being.

Finally, I updated my website while I’ve been away. Take a look around and see if you like the new look and feel. I wanted my website to convey a feeling of peace, nothing cluttered, nothing pushy, just a space for me to share my writing and to connect with you.

These are some of the things I’ve been up to since I stopped writing on the internet. Frankly, I’m glad I stepped aside for a while - this was a break much needed and much appreciated.

Thank you for reading this and for being here with me today. Sending you an appreciation filled hug, no matter where you are in the world.

xoxo
