The Fall season: completion, change, acceptance, groundedness

I love it when a new season begins. In NY, fall just started.

Nowadays, we use calendar dates to plan our affairs. But our ancestors used the true moon cycles, the weather, and other changes from mother nature. Seasons were important events for them.

People who are close to the land still commune with nature in order to know time. My grandparents, for example, only looked at their calendar once in a blue moon. They worked on the land all their lives and they knew what they needed to know about time from the weather, the sun, the land, and their own intuition.

I’m not a big planner, but I like using the four seasons in addition to calendar dates when I think ahead. For example, fall and spring are great seasons for starting or completing new projects. Winter and summer are great seasons for doing the middle groundwork on these projects.

There are different energies brought forth by each season and you can ride the momentum of these energies to create more abundance and more calm in your life.

Here are the equinox dates for this season and the next three:

Fall 2020 start: September 22nd, 2020 (September 2020 Equinox)
Winter 2020 start: December 21st, 2020 (December 2020 Equinox)
Spring 2021 start: March 20th, 2021 (March 2021 Equinox)
Summer 2021 start: June 20th, 2021 (June 2021 Equinox)

Let’s talk about Fall for a minute, since we’re now in September.

Fall is powerful, fresh, rich, and rapid. Have you felt it? There’s something about the beginning of Fall that makes many feel differently.

Here are some of the themes I see surfacing with this new season:

COMPLETION

September, the month when fall starts, is the ninth month of the year. Nine is a number that represents completion, awakening, and unity consciousness. You may feel a sense of completion when this month starts, and together with that, also a sense of new beginnings. When something ends, something new begins, right?

CHANGE & MOMENTUM

Fall is all about change. Kids go back to school, leaves change color, the weather becomes chillier, and all of this happens with steady and fast momentum. There’s a feeling of change, a feeling of wanting to take action that most people feel when fall starts. Use this feeling of expansion to birth growth plans. Prepare for what’s ahead. Expect growth. Plan your steps to accomplish it.

ACCEPTANCE

You watch how nature sheds skin. There’s nothing you can do about it. You accept changes, because you have no control over them. We are mere spectators witnessing the spectacle of nature. Acceptance of what is brings inner peace, and this is a feeling that many feel when Fall starts. You can feel inner peace about your work too. Make peace with where you are and what you have.

GROUNDEDNESS

Many people feel a deeper connection to Earth during this time. Maybe it’s the beautiful colored trees, the pumpkins, the root vegetables, or simply the fresh air. This deeper connection to Earth translates into a feeling of groundedness, a feeling of being grounded to what’s beneath our feet and ultimately, to the metaphorical path we walk on. When you feel grounded, you feel more powerful.

Have a wonderful Fall.
